High School postcard

A GEM FROM THE PAST SHARED BY LOWELL JOERG

Lowell Joerg of Stockton, California, known as the “Postcard Man,” has gifted a postcard circa 1910 of Mt. Carmel High School, once upon a time located on 8th and Mulberry, where the Mt. Carmel Library now resides. This postcard is a true gift full of Mt. Carmel nostalgia.

Lowell has collected vintage postcards over his gentle 96 years and is now returning them as his “re-distribution of happiness” hobby. Lowell writes, “How the card made its way to California we’ll never know. At any rate, I hope it brightens your day.”

High school classes were moved from the old Seminary School, once on Plum near the present high school, to this building in the photograph. A new high school was built on the bluff and completed in 1914.

We will treasure this gift as it has for sure brightened our day. We hope to send Lowell a little happiness in return. Be sure to Google search Lowell Joerg to read about all the happiness he has shared.
