Public Statement Regarding Remote Learning Status Community, Due to the increasing positivity rates of COVID-19 and the subsequent quarantines and isolations of residents of our community, Wabash CUSD #348 will move immediately into remote learning status. This decision was not made lightly and did take into consideration numerous factors. The first and foremost factor was the safety and wellbeing of our community. In addition to the immediate transition to remote learning, there will be a pause in all athletics. As for breakfast and lunch, the District will begin providing those meals similarly to the procedure in the springtime. The building principals will be delivering building specific information that will outline remote learning procedures. Additionally, the teachers will be reaching out to students and parents on their expectations. Unfortunately, we did not foresee this rapid return to remote learning. This has never been the goal of the District, and we are committed to returning to in-person instruction as soon as possible. When the time comes to return to in-person instruction, the community will be given at ample notice for preparations. We are also sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, but the circumstances at this time make it necessary. Stay safe and Go Aces, Chuck Bleyer, Ed.D. Superintendent

As we get closer to the reopening of the 2020-21 school year, we are rapidly preparing for both in-person and remote instruction. This has been a huge undertaking considering our current conditions. Those that have chosen in-person instruction will expect to see a cautious approach to what used to be a normal school year. Although the precautions will be unfamiliar, we are committed to keeping everyone as safe as possible. As the school year progresses, we will be able to ascertain our procedures and reformat them to better address the needs of the students, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Remote learning is also available to our students. Under the District Reopening Plan that is on the district website, you will see the stipulations necessary to opt for remote learning. As for the instructional approach, the teachers will be in charge of the type of remote approach for their students. Currently, the teachers use a multitude of platforms such as Google Classroom, Khan Academy and SeeSaw. These platforms will, generally, be the main source of information/communication for the remote learners courses with information such as, lessons, assignments, due dates, etc. Teachers will be using communication platforms such as Remind, Bloomz, the school website, and email with their remote learning students about the specifics of their remote classrooms. Additionally, as the year progresses, teachers may utilize developing technology to enhance their lesson capabilities. Either way you decide for your child, registration is mandatory to receive instruction from Wabash CUSD #348. Registration information is located on the website, and you may call the school offices for any help. I know this is a time of uncertainty for our community, but I can assure you that District #348 will do everything in its power to provide a quality and rounded education for our students while offering numerous extracurricular activities. This commitment will be unwavering throughout these difficult times.

There has been some questions about health records and remote learning. If you have chosen to remote learn then you are still required to turn in the mandated health records prior to registering your child for school. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thank you!

The District has posted the 2020-21 school year reopening plan on the website. All plans are designed with the principles of safety, to stay open, and effective education. Please take time to review the plan. Currently, the building principals are developing their reopening plans. On a daily basis, various conditions will have an impact on our plans. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to check our website for new developments. One immediate change is the separation of Groups A and B. After an analysis of our students, we found a better separation of the groups would be students with the last name beginning with A-J will now be Group A, and students with the last name beginning with K-Z will now be Group B. Adjustments like this are possible as we get closer to the return of students. Stay safe and Go Aces!

ISBE letter Part 1
ISBE Letter Part 2
DISTRICT UPDATE: Due to the state guidelines for returning to in-person instruction, wearing a face mask or a face shield will be mandatory to attend school in Phase 4. The district has ordered enough cloth face masks to distribute one per student. However, it is recommended that students have extra face masks for the upcoming school year. Personal face masks worn by a student will need to comply with school dress codes. The district is currently preparing accommodations that will make in-person instruction possible for this upcoming school year. This school year will certainly be different than any previous school year. As this summer continues, we will continue to communicate new developments and procedures.

Good news, bad news... The video for the Class of 2020 Awards can be accessed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEfsHOLQbcQ . Bad news is after we did some editing with adding pictures and names to this video, we realized we would not be doing the Jr High justice by not doing the same. It took longer than we thought, so unfortunately, the Jr.High video likely won't be available until Monday.
