What does making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, algorithm, digital citizenship, and making healthy media choices have to do with Robotics? They all require a process or a set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations.
Students at Mt. Carmel Grade School and Mt. Carmel Elementary School are exploring the world of Coding and Robotics this month with Mrs. Witsman, District #348 Instructional Coach and Business Teacher. Students are learning how to properly instruct a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Maker and a Robot to make precise movements to perform an activity. Mrs. Witsman may end up with handfuls of peanut butter, but it is all in good fun and students learn a lesson in how overlooking one small step can easily become quite messy.
After some step-by-step training, students take turns programming the robots, Kevin and Cody, and a couple of BeeBots, to make their way through maps using instruction cards and algorithm calculations.
Be sure to ask your child about their interactive robotic experience!
