It is a great day to be a Golden Ace
Let me be the first to welcome all the Golden Aces back to school for the 2021-22 school year. With all the new and exciting changes, I just wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself as your new principal.
My name is Andrew Shelby and I grew up in Southern Illinois. I started my career as an educator as an Alternative High School teacher and coach in Alton, IL in 1997. I enjoyed success as a high school social studies teacher and coach at Prairie Central High School (Fairbury, IL). I became an administrator and served as an assistant principal, principal and dean of students in Marion Unit #2 (Marion, IL), Herrin Unit #4 (Herrin, IL), McLean County District Unit #5 (Normal, IL), and Bluford Community School District #318 (Bluford, IL). In every experience, I have been able to promote a healthy school culture while meeting the academic needs of the students. My wife Karen will be teaching special education at Mount Carmel Grade School. My daughter Brooke will be a junior and son Connor will be a sophomore at Mount Carmel High School. Our chocolate lab Cody enjoys his new setting in the country taking naps and greeting new friends. I look forward to meeting you and always remember it is a great day to be a Golden Ace.
