The Aces Scholarship is open to a graduating senior from Mt. Carmel High School in 2024. The scholarship may be used at any college/university of the recipient's choice and will be payable after June 1, 2024, upon receipt of evidence of enrollment. There are two $750 scholarships for May of 2024. The deadline is April 10, 2024. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.
MCHS Alumni Foundation Spirit Scholarship
The MCHS Alumni Foundation will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a qualified student meeting the application requirements. Applications are to be submitted no later than May 1, 2024. The Spirit Scholarship will be paid directly to the student's college or technical institution upon entry of the school year for the Fall semester of 2024. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.
Due to illnesses in the Casey-Westfield basketball program, the boys fresh/soph basketball game scheduled for Monday, January 29th has been cancelled. This game will not be rescheduled.
Shade Loudermilk, son of Nichole Loudermilk and Aaron Loudermilk was a 2024 recipient of the LIC scholarship. The students selected are based upon outstanding athletic and academic performance as a high school student athlete. He is the first student from Mt Carmel to ever be selected for the honor. Shade is a senior at MCHS and plans to major in biology/premed at St Louis University next year. Shade was a two-year captain of the soccer team at MCHS and leading scorer in the LIC for his senior year. Shade also helped the MCHS football team to a second place state finish this year breaking 3 school PAT records and becoming maxpreps #1 kicker in Illinois. Shade is currently playing basketball for MCHS and will be playing MCHS baseball in the spring. Shade is also a member of Student Council and the National Honor Society treasurer for MCHS. He has participated in the Lunch Buddies mentoring program and tutors many students in math and science. Congratulations to Shade Loudermilk!

The Wabash General Hospital Healthcare scholarship is now available in the Guidance office. The deadline for this scholarship is March 22, 2024.
The freshman/sophomore boys basketball game scheduled for tonight at home against Casey-Westfield has been postponed. This game will be rescheduled for Monday, January 29th at Mt. Carmel High School starting at 6:00pm.
The MCHS Girls Basketball game scheduled for tonight at Casey-Westfield has been postponed. The game will be rescheduled for Monday, January 29th in Casey, and will only be 1 varsity game starting at 6:00pm.
The Monday games of the LIC boys basketball tournament have been postponed. Tonight's games will be rescheduled for Wednesday, January 24th. Mt. Carmel will take on Paris at 6:00pm at Newton High School. They will then play for 5th place or 7th place on Thursday, January 25th as previously scheduled.

Snyder- Crumpacker Scholarship
A designated fund was created by Dr. Sara Snyder Crumpacker and Mr. J. Peter Crumpacker to support an annual scholarship administered through Mt. Carmel High School. If sufficient money is available to accommodate the awarding of two scholarships in the same year, one should be awarded to a male student and the other to a female student, when possible. This scholarship has been established to honor Max R. and Sara L. Snyder, and in the spirit of Thomas Jefferson, to recognize that an educated citizenry is vital for our survival as a free nation.
∙ DEADLINE for scholarship application: Applications must be turned in to the MCHS Guidance Office by March 20, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. (No exceptions).
∙ Incomplete applications will not be considered.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Graduating seniors of Mt. Carmel High School in Wabash County, Illinois who are planning full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university, who demonstrate financial need, and who have a GPA of at least 3.0 or show demonstrable achievement on SAT or ACT exams. Preference may be given to applicants planning a course of study or intending a career in the food industry, nutrition/nourishment, health, or agriculture. If there are no qualified applicants from Mt. Carmel High School in a given year, graduating seniors of other nearby Southern Illinois high schools may be eligible to apply.
The MCHS Wrestling team will now wrestle at Mt. Vernon, IN on Tuesday, January 16th at 6:00pm. The bus will leave at 4:00pm.

The MCHS Boys Basketball Team has added a game with Fairfield on Wednesday, January 31st at Fairfield. The JV game will start at 6:00pm, with the varsity game to follow.
