The Illinois Elks Association offers college scholarships to students majoring in Physical & Occupational Therapy. And, the Elks Association offers college scholarships for Physical and Occupational Therapy Assistant Majors. Find the applications online at illinoiselksccc.org. The deadline is March 6, 2020. Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union has announced they are continuing the Ted Hitch Scholarship Program. Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each will be awarded in the Spring of 2020. Ten awards will be given to graduating high school seniors.
To qualify for ETFCU’s scholarship, seniors must meet the following criteria:
1) Applicant or applicant’s parents/guardians must be a member of ETFCU for at least 18 months prior to the February 28, 2020 deadline.
2) Student must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale or 5.0 on a 6.0 scale, or equivalent, at the end of the fall semester
3) The use of at least 3 ETFCU services is required. The services are listed in Section 1 of the application

Seniors:
Thirty $2,000 Farm Credit Illinois scholarships are available to high school seniors planning to enroll in an agriculture-based college curriculum next fall. Two applicants will be designated “Diversity in Agriculture Scholars”. Recipients must reside – or their family must farm – in one of the 60 central and southern Illinois counties served by Farm Credit Illinois.
Selection criteria include academic achievement, participation and leadership with school and community organizations, and a commitment to pursuing an agriculture-related career. As part of the application, students will create a 30-45 second video file capturing their passion for agriculture.

A selection of Mt. Carmel Jr Sr High School Music Students travel to Charleston, Illinois for the ILMEA Junior & Senior Concert Festival at Eastern Illinois University. They will spend their Saturday learning music from selected elite ILMEA conductors and perform concerts starting at 4:00 p.m. at EIU. Go Aces!!
Dilara and Moe came to talk to Mr. Kieffer's American Government and Civic classes about the political system in Germany and how it compares to the political system in the United States. Seniors:
There are several scholarships available through the Illinois Masons, Illinois Grand Lodge and Scottish Rite Masons. Furthermore, there are several Health Career Fields scholarships available to the public not requiring a Masonic relationship. Applications are available in the MCHS Guidance Department. The deadline is March 1, 2020.
Health Career Fields: Masonic relationship is not required. The recipient must intend to enter the field of health care. Health care includes (but is not limited to) nursing, physical or occupational therapy, radiology, anesthesiology, etc.
Sherwood and Evelyn Kresin: Masonic relationship is not required. This scholarship has an exception for the “undergraduate only” restriction. The recipient may be in an undergraduate or a graduate course of study. There is no restriction regarding the recipient’s course of study.
MCHS Senior, Madi Merritt, is this year's local winner of the Voice of Democracy essay contest. Her entry will now be judged at the district level amongst other chapter winners. Congratulations, Madi!

Kassidy Drone, Senior at Mount Carmel High School, will sign a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel IL. Her signing will take place on Tuesday, November 19 at 5:00 pm in the Main Lobby at Mount Carmel High School. The community is invited to attend the signing.
Mayor Joe Judge visited Mr. Kieffer and Mrs. Destefano's Civic Classes today at MCHS. He discussed the ins and outs of being mayor and what’s to come for the city of Mount Carmel. Thank you Mayor Judge.
