The week of May 3 - 7 was Teacher Appreciation Week. The teachers were overwhelmed by the generosity of the community and the district. We would like to thank Roads Church for the books, gift bags and trays of cookies. Constant Cravings held a teacher appreciation week and gave away door prizes with free chocolates and coffee. Parkview Christian Church brought in donuts for breakfast to honor the teachers. Thank you so much!
Note that ALL children entering 2nd grade in the 2021-2022 school year are required to have a dental examination performed by a licensed dentist who must sign the form. This form must be on file with the school by May 15, 2022. This exam must be recorded on the Illinois State Form and must have been completed within the past 18 months prior to the May 15th deadline (completed between 11/15/120 and 5/15/22). MCES would like to thank Brent Whitney for bringing the Mystery Machine to MCES. The students enjoyed visiting with Scooby-Doo and I am amazed at the generosity of our parents and students with all the donations for the Wabash Animal Shelter. They said they needed cat food and you came through. I have attached a picture of the donations early on, but we filled Mrs. Leffler's van. Thank you to all!
I am finding it hard to believe that our crazy school year is coming to an end. Today we celebrated MCES May Star Students of the month. I am very proud of this group of students; after spring break they often find it hard to concentrate. So I am so happy these students received an award.

Scooby-Doo came to visit MCES on Friday, April 30. The students of MCES collected items for the Wabash Animal Shelter and we appreciate all the parents and family members that donated to this project. If you still wish to donate, MCES students are collecting until Wednesday, May 5.

MCES celebrated their March Star Students on Thursday, April 22. The students that were chosen shined in their classes with good behavior and completing their work. Way to go! The PTO at MCES is sponsoring a giveaway for one of four baskets by purchasing tickets from an MCES student. Tickets go on sell tomorrow and only students that parents have approved will be selling the tickets. All money and tickets are due by Wednesday, April 28 and the drawing will be on Monday, May 3rd. All proceeds go to the PTO to help fund activities for MCES students. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.
Items in the baskets are all different. Some of the items are board games, DVD's, gift cards, beach towels, outdoor activities for kids, beach cooler bag combo, French tip nails, skin care, ladies wallet, massage, gardening tool set, and Tervis tumbler, plus lots more items.
Thank you MCES faculty and staff for putting the baskets together, donating and reaching out for donations.
MCES is happy to announce that the Wabash County Health Department will be joining the MCES Kindergarten Screenings on Monday, May 3 and Monday, May 10. If your child is starting Kindergarten in August of 2021, they will be able to receive their shots needed from the health department at the school during the time they are scheduled for their screening. If you have any questions please contact MCES or the health department.

MCES-Change in Menu for Thursday, April 8 - instead of chili, it will be taco soup. It is changed in dining but not in calendar menu.
MCES Kindergarten classes celebrated a spring feast today before they left on spring break. This has not been a normal year and they missed their Thanksgiving Day feast, so this was done to brighten their year. They ate ham, mashed potatoes, corn and apple sauce. Thank you Ms. Caren for fixing the meal.
