MCES Summer School Info: Summer School will run May 31 - June 30, Monday through Thursday. Drop off and pickup will be in the bus lane, at the west end of the building, from 7:50 - 8:00. Classes will run from 8:00 - 11:45 daily. Please email principal, Mr. Newkirk, at jnewkirk@wabash348.com with any questions.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. School Social Worker, Mrs. Taylor, has worked with MCES students this year about recognizing feelings and appropriate coping skills. Today, students and staff dressed up as characters from "Inside Out" in recognition.
Walk-In Immunization clinics through the summer will be available at Wabash County Health Department for school shots & lead screenings. Tuesday, June 7th 7am-5pm. Tuesday, July 12th 7am-5pm. Tuesday, August 9th 7 am-5pm.

MCES Menu Change: On Thursday, the 12th, we will be serving deli turkey on bun instead of fish sticks.
Reminder that today is the last scheduled kindergarten screener for those students who plan to enroll at MCES this upcoming school year. You may call the school at 263-3876 to schedule your appointment if you have not done so already. Appointments are 8:30 - 10:30 this morning and 3:30 - 6:00 this evening.
The MCES PTO Son"dae" Social tomorrow, at 5:30 pm, will now be held in the MCES Gym due to the weather forecast. Walk-in tickets are $15 a pair if you are not already signed up.
Recently, every one of our students received two or more brand new books to take home. We want to thank our community partners who contributed to the literacy drive's success. These business included Walt Blake on behalf of Taco Tierra, Kenny Saxe State Farm, Pacific Press, and The First National Bank of Allendale.
Congratulations to Mrs. Gordon and her future students as her project "Thinking STEM and Puzzles" was recently funded through DonorsChoose. Her classroom will be fitted with a programmable robot and a set of essential puzzles.
The students in Mrs. Jones’ class used their knowledge of sorting, tally charts, bar graphs, addition and word problems to successfully complete an engaging math lesson taught by Student Teacher: Taylor Waggoner
To wrap up our our study about myths in reading, Mrs. Litherland's and Ms. Bruce's class performed in class the play "Athena and Poseidon" which is a Greek Myth about how the city of Athens got her name and it also explains how the first olive tree came to be. It tells why it has always been a beloved plant of the Greek people.
District #348 Preschool for All is conducting Child Find/Preschool Screenings for Birth to 5-year-old children not yet enrolled in public schools and who are not kindergarten eligible. There are currently 15 appointments left. Head Start personnel will also be present to explain their program and services. Screenings will be held on April 4th, 5th and 6th. Children ages 0-3 will only be screened on April 6th. The screening procedure takes about 45 minutes, and appointments must be made so that children do not have a long wait period. Parents should call 618-262-4623 to make an appointment or to get more information.
