This is a reminder from MCGS: Remote learning begins tomorrow. Please have your student log in to their device and check their email or Google Classrooms daily. Encourage them to complete their assignments on time because they will be graded. As we get closer to the reopening of the 2020-21 school year, we are rapidly preparing for both in-person and remote instruction. This has been a huge undertaking considering our current conditions. Those that have chosen in-person instruction will expect to see a cautious approach to what used to be a normal school year. Although the precautions will be unfamiliar, we are committed to keeping everyone as safe as possible. As the school year progresses, we will be able to ascertain our procedures and reformat them to better address the needs of the students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
Remote learning is also available to our students. Under the District Reopening Plan that is on the district website, you will see the stipulations necessary to opt for remote learning. As for the instructional approach, the teachers will be in charge of the type of remote approach for their students. Currently, the teachers use a multitude of platforms such as Google Classroom, Khan Academy and SeeSaw. These platforms will, generally, be the main source of information/communication for the remote learners courses with information such as, lessons, assignments, due dates, etc. Teachers will be using communication platforms such as Remind, Bloomz, the school website, and email with their remote learning students about the specifics of their remote classrooms. Additionally, as the year progresses, teachers may utilize developing technology to enhance their lesson capabilities.
Either way you decide for your child, registration is mandatory to receive instruction from Wabash CUSD #348. Registration information is located on the website, and you may call the school offices for any help. I know this is a time of uncertainty for our community, but I can assure you that District #348 will do everything in its power to provide a quality and rounded education for our students while offering numerous extracurricular activities. This commitment will be unwavering throughout these difficult times.

DISTRICT UPDATE: Due to the state guidelines for returning to in-person instruction, wearing a face mask or a face shield will be mandatory to attend school in Phase 4. The district has ordered enough cloth face masks to distribute one per student. However, it is recommended that students have extra face masks for the upcoming school year. Personal face masks worn by a student will need to comply with school dress codes.
The district is currently preparing accommodations that will make in-person instruction possible for this upcoming school year. This school year will certainly be different than any previous school year. As this summer continues, we will continue to communicate new developments and procedures.

2020 5th – 8th Grade Band Practice Challenge Winners!
Every year during 2nd semester the 5th-8th grade band students in Wabash 348 compete in a practice challenge to see who can practice the most days in a row without missing a day. This year's winners were 1st place, Aiden McBroom (6th grade) and 2nd place, Mackenzie Hipsher (5th grade). Both students practiced over 100 days! Congrats Aiden and Mackenzie!!
Some students still have personal items at MCGS that were not picked up on 5/11. If needing to pickup, please make arrangements with the office 262-5699.
Please have all remote learning paper packets returned by noon on Friday to the MCGS cart outside. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the school closure and working with the MCGS teachers. A reminder that Monday 8-3 the school will be open for picking up and dropping off materials if needed. Please review the process on the MCGS website and a reminder will be sent out Sunday as well.

On Monday May 11, MCGS will be open from 8-3 for students to drop off school materials (chrome books, textbooks, and library books) and pickup personal belongings from desks/lockers and chocolate orders if sold. This will be a quick process and we will be practicing social distancing during the day and limiting the number of people in the building at a time. Please limit to 1 child/1 adult coming into the building if at all possible. Once entering the building staff will assist with the return of chrome books and library books. Then proceed to the appropriate grade level hallway and return text books to the desk outside of the student's classroom. Items left in student desks will be in a bag out by the student locker for pickup along with any chocolate orders if sold. Student/Parent will be responsible for getting items out of lockers if left. Grade cards will be emailed to parent address on file. Thank you and stay safe.

The packet cart at MCGS will now be out permanently starting 4/17 with new packets being put in each Friday.
