TIME CHANGE. Starting tomorrow, Monday, April 6, 2020, District #348 Grab and Go lunch pickup will change to 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the same school building locations. The offsite mobile locations times will remain the same.
Information on remote learning starting April 6.
For students w/o access to a device or internet, packets will be available for pickup outside MCGS main doors in a marked cart this Friday at 10 am. Please pickup a packet from the grade level your child is in, each grade level has been marked along with activity classes. The procedure will be every Friday return the previous weeks learning packets with the student name on it in the drop bin and obtain next weeks packet in the pickup bin in the cart out front. For students with a device to use from home, please continue the communication with your teachers and look for updates. If you have not been able to be reached by your teacher please visit the MCGS website and go to staff where the teacher emails are located. Starting next week the MCGS office will continue to be open on Wednesdays 9-2.

March 30, 2020 Remote Learning Days District Statement
MCGS will be assisting those students that do not have a device at home to access resources and learning opportunities from teachers during the mandated school closure. On Monday, March 30th from 9:00-2:00, parents/guardians of MCGS students that haven’t had a device to access online resources may come to MCGS to a marked designated area to sign out a chromebook. There are limited devices available for distribution, if you already have a device that your student is using please refrain from picking up another to allow students in need to have one. Parents/guardians will sign out a chromebook and charger for their student and will be responsible for returning the device at a later date. For families without internet access, information will be coming in regards to learning resources during the closure.
This past week, our educators have put together Learning Resource Opportunities for our students/parents. These rich resources are designed to keep your child academically engaged throughout this mandated shut-down. Websites, Activities, Google Classroom information and Social Support are available through the School Website. This information is updated hourly. Any information that is found helpful will be added. Visit https://www.wabash348.com/ and click the REMOTE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY/COVID-19 INFORMATION button and it will take you to the Informational Page with links that include school learning resources. From the APP, it can be accessed through the Wabash Community Unit School District #348 and choose the COVID-19 INFO from the Menu. Please understand that this is a new, ongoing learning process for everyone. The administration is working on all the details as the information becomes available from the Illinois School Board of Education. Thank you for your patience.
A note from the Superintendent:
Today, March 20, 2020, Governor Pritzker ordered a shelter-in-place for Illinois. All Illinois schools, including Wabash CUSD #348, will be closed until April 8th. The state will re-evaluate the situation at that time. During that time, Wabash CUSD #348 will be on spring break. Therefore, the schools are tentatively scheduled to reopen on April 13th. Additionally, we will remain committed to continuing our remote learning opportunities for our students. As the Illinois State Board of Education delivers more guidance, we will be able to better address our situation moving forward. Wabash CUSD #348 Press Release
At 3:30 pm today, Governor Pritzker announced a directive that all public and private schools in the state of Illinois will be closed March 17th-30th. These closures are directly related to the concern over the COVID-19 virus. District #348 will follow this directive and remain closed until the 30th. The governor did stress he may continue closures. During this time, all District curricular and extracurricular activities will be cancelled. As more information and details emerge, it will be disseminated on the website www.Wabash348.com, District app and District Facebook page.
Effective March 13, 2020, all K-12 school districts in Wabash County are closing indefinitely due to concerns pertaining to COVID-19. Additionally, all extracurricular activities will be suspended. The closings come with a recommendation from the Wabash County Health Department and are designed to protect the community. To my knowledge, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, but this precautionary move is designed to inhibit the spread of this virus. As of this time, there is no timetable to reopen the schools. However, it is the intention of the Districts to reopen as soon as possible. I will continue to communicate with the public via our website, app, and all calls.

The IGSMA District 4 Solo & Ensemble Contest scheduled for Saturday, March 14 has been postponed.
Due to the chance of hazardous weather, 6th grade boys/girls track and the fifth grade talent show have been canceled for tonight.
MCGS 5th & 6th grade band students enjoyed their trip to the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra Young People’s Concert. It was called “Beethoven at Bat” and included Beethoven music with a sports theme.
MCES/MCGS is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff. Therefore we would like to remind you during this flu season and concern of the coronavirus if your child has symptoms such as high fever, cough, sore throat, and/or tiredness please keep them home to prevent spreading sickness. MCES/MCGS will waive perfect attendance awards this year to help prevent students coming to school if feeling ill to keep perfect attendance. Remember washing hands, not touching eyes, nose, mouth, cover cough/sneeze, and avoid contact with people who are sick will help prevent illness. Thank You.
Due to the high number of cases this year of influenza A & B, strep throat, and potentially COVID-19, during the second semester the District will suspend all attendance requirements pertaining to semester finals and perfect attendance awards. This change in policy is in accordance with the recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control, the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health. The District does not want to promote or encourage students attending school while not feeling completely healthy. As for returning to school from illness, it is District policy that the student must be fever free for twenty-four hours without the use of fever reducing medication prior to returning. If you have any questions, please call your child’s school office.
MCGS spring chocolate fundraiser packets were sent home with students today. For those wising to participate, orders are due no later than March 11. Thank you for your support of MCGS.
