DATE: NOVEMBER 6, 2020 SIJHSAA POSTPONES WINTER SPORTS Special Announcement (11-5-20) A motion was made to postpone all SIJHSAA sports until approved IDPH Return To Play Guidelines are in place. Thus, at this point girls and boys basketball practices set to start on November 16 and contests slated to start on November 30 are presently postponed. If circumstances change, the SIJHSAA will notify member schools of updated information for basketball and other winter sports. The SIJHSAA will monitor what is occuring concerning basketball and other winter sport activities. Greg Hale, Executive Director SIJHSAA A full media release can be found at sijhsaa.com

School pictures will be coming home this week. Due to the short turnaround, we will be delaying picture retakes until Tuesday, October 27th. Picture retakes are for those students who were absent on picture day, the student has a free pass due to the quality of the picture, and for students who would like to pay $5 to get a different photo taken.

Opportunity for Remote Learners to Return to In-Person After two weeks of successful four day in-person learning in the schools, we are confident that we can accommodate more students. We have had calls from numerous parents requesting that their child return to in-person instruction. Therefore, we are announcing a window for remote learners to return to in-person instruction. This window will be October 13th-16th. This opportunity coincides with the beginning of the second quarter. This opportunity will not reemerge until the end of the first semester. If you do want your child to return to in-person instruction, prior to returning you must notify the school office at least one day before the student may return to in-person instruction.

As we mourn the tragic loss of one of our own students, we want to make parents aware that we have grief counseling available on site. We have two licensed counselors with our three social workers available and on staff daily. Our students may walk in at any time during the school day (including our remote learners), email Mrs. Morris (smorris@wabash348.com), or a parent is welcome to call the guidance office at 262-8886.
