School Pictures for junior and senior high students are coming up on Wednesday, September 16th and Thursday, September 17th. Pictures will be taken outside and in front of the school. For those students who are in full remote learning mode, feel free to stop by to get your picture taken for the yearbook. If you have any questions, please call the school at 262-5104.

The student option to remain in full remote learning or transfer to in-person learning deadline is September 11, 2020. After September 11th, students in full remote learning will remain in full remote learning until the end of the first semester, December 18, 2020.
As a reminder, students in full remote learning must comply with the following: a) Reliable internet access. b) Parent/Guardian commitment to supervise and assist in the facilitation of learning in the home environment. c) Must be periodically progress monitored by trained
Wabash #348 personnel. This may entail in-person progress monitoring at the school.
Parents are encouraged to work with the administration and teachers throughout this process.

There will be no charge to ALL Wabash District #348 students for breakfast and/or lunch through first semester ending December 18, 2020. The Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it would allow schools to continue serving free meals to all kids through the end of 2020.

Jr. High Parents – please have your student(s) log into their Gmail account and check their messages. Teachers are sending out login information for Google Classroom and other programs in order to get everyone ready for remote learning. Some teachers have assignments posted as well with due dates. Parents and students should check this app (or the school website) and their email daily for further instructions from the Jr. High staff.

7th Grade students need to check their Gmail. You have several messages from teachers. You must get logged into Google Classroom and begin completing assignments found there. If you do not have your teacher's code to join their classroom you need to email the teacher ASAP.

Apologies for the confusion. As well as delivery locations, the school grab and go lunch may also be picked up at the Mt. Carmel High School and Mt. Carmel Grade School daily. 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Return to MCJHS Highlights:
Temperature checks will begin at 7:40. All Jr. High students (who do not ride the bus) should report to the front main Jr High entrance. Please wait until the student is allowed in the building before you drive off. It is important to note that a student must be registered before coming to school. We are finding that some have registered but did not hit "submit" at the end of the process. Students will receive their class schedule as they enter the building and there will be staff in place to help guide students to where they are to go. Students will be permitted to bring water in a transparent container. Remote learners will pick up materials on Monday, August 17th. If a remote learner will not be able to engage on a particular day, a parent must call the school to report him or her absent. Please direct any questions to jnewkirk@wabash348.com.

As we get closer to the reopening of the 2020-21 school year, we are rapidly preparing for both in-person and remote instruction. This has been a huge undertaking considering our current conditions. Those that have chosen in-person instruction will expect to see a cautious approach to what used to be a normal school year. Although the precautions will be unfamiliar, we are committed to keeping everyone as safe as possible. As the school year progresses, we will be able to ascertain our procedures and reformat them to better address the needs of the students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
Remote learning is also available to our students. Under the District Reopening Plan that is on the district website, you will see the stipulations necessary to opt for remote learning. As for the instructional approach, the teachers will be in charge of the type of remote approach for their students. Currently, the teachers use a multitude of platforms such as Google Classroom, Khan Academy and SeeSaw. These platforms will, generally, be the main source of information/communication for the remote learners courses with information such as, lessons, assignments, due dates, etc. Teachers will be using communication platforms such as Remind, Bloomz, the school website, and email with their remote learning students about the specifics of their remote classrooms. Additionally, as the year progresses, teachers may utilize developing technology to enhance their lesson capabilities.
Either way you decide for your child, registration is mandatory to receive instruction from Wabash CUSD #348. Registration information is located on the website, and you may call the school offices for any help. I know this is a time of uncertainty for our community, but I can assure you that District #348 will do everything in its power to provide a quality and rounded education for our students while offering numerous extracurricular activities. This commitment will be unwavering throughout these difficult times.
