This is a special message from Mount Carmel Elementary School. Starting Monday, September 28, Monday's are remote learning days until further notice. All students are expected to do their lessons on seesaw. Tuesday through Friday are in person days where all students will be attending school every day. Students will be dismissed at their class times: Kindergarten - 2:30 p.m., First Grade 2:45 p.m. and Second Grade 3:00 p.m. Please be patient as the lines will be a little longer at drop off in the morning. The teachers are so excited to have the students at least four days a week. Thank you, Mrs. Odom
Paragon Reminder: This is the last weekend for students to sell Paragon and help the school with their fundraiser. The turn in date is Wednesday, September 30. If your child sells 10 items they will receive a splat ball on October 1st as well as getting to draw for a sucker at a later date. The top three salesman will earn a $50 gift card from the school along with the paragon prizes and the top class in each grade level will earn a party. Selling online is easy and I see immediately who has sold items. Thank you for your support! Mrs. Odom
This a reminder from MCES that if your child attends school on Tuesday's, that tomorrow is picture day. Please have your child prepared with their order envelope if you wish to order pictures or you can order online. Remote learning students may attend between 9:30 - 10:00 to have their picture taken. If your child attends on Wednesday, then September 23rd is their picture day. Thank you!
This is a reminder that Aly Mae will be here to take pictures for MCES on Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23. The online order form is on the MCES webpage under "news". If you do not wish to order online please send your child's money with them the day of pictures. All checks should be written to Aly Mae.
Students will have their pictures taken on the day they normally come to school. Early Childhood's pictures will be taken on Wednesday. If a child is full remote then they may come Tuesday, September 22nd from 9:30 to 10:00 to have their photo's taken.
Please help MCES with their Fundraiser by helping your child sell items from the Paragon Flyers. The top three sellers will receive a $50.00 Walmart gift card besides the items they will win from Paragon. One classroom per grade level who sells the most will win a popcorn/movie party. Remote students may pick up their packets from the office if they wish to sell. Thank you for helping our school.
The student option to remain in full remote learning or transfer to in-person learning deadline is September 11, 2020. After September 11th, students in full remote learning will remain in full remote learning until the end of the first semester, December 18, 2020.
As a reminder, students in full remote learning must comply with the following: a) Reliable internet access. b) Parent/Guardian commitment to supervise and assist in the facilitation of learning in the home environment. c) Must be periodically progress monitored by trained
Wabash #348 personnel. This may entail in-person progress monitoring at the school.
Parents are encouraged to work with the administration and teachers throughout this process.
This is a reminder from MCES that school is dismissed early tomorrow. Kindergarten at 11:30, First Grade at 11:45 and Second Grade noon. The buses will start loading at noon. Please note with the short day and the separation of students, Kindergarten students will start eating their lunch at 9:25, so they will be hungry when they get home. I hope everyone has a great Labor Day Weekend.
A very limited number of preschool screening appointments are still available! Preschool for All will be conducting preschool screenings for birth to 5 year old children who are not yet enrolled in public schools and who are not kindergarten eligible. This screening program is free and parents will receive immediate feedback on how their child is developing. Preschool Screenings will be held on September 8th, 9th, and 10th. The screening procedure takes about 45 minutes, and appointments must be made so that children do not have a long wait period. Parents should call 618-262-4623 to make an appointment or to get more information.
There will be no charge to ALL Wabash District #348 students for breakfast and/or lunch through first semester ending December 18, 2020. The Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it would allow schools to continue serving free meals to all kids through the end of 2020.
Menu for MCES on Wednesday, September 30th has been changed from soup to Biscuits and Gravy!
Packets from MCES were sent home on August 20 and 21 that had the students Seesaw codes and other worksheets. Please keep your child's codes at home in a safe place, but return all the lessons paperwork that were not completed or assigned. First and Second grade sent home this weeks work as well as last weeks and it will need to be returned. Thank you so much and I am looking forward to seeing the students tomorrow (A - J).

Here we try again MCES: Please remember that starting next week we will begin the hybrid method of learning again. Monday is a remote learning day for all students. Tuesday and Thursday group A comes and Wednesday and Friday group B comes. The days your child is not in school they will be expected to complete remote learning. It is very important to be completing the remote learning because the teachers will be moving on with their lessons. Please stay in contact with your child's teachers if they are too sick to do the remote learning, because attendance is being taken. They will be marked truant if they are not logging in. Dismissal times for car riders: Kindergarten 2:30, First Grade 2:45 and Second Grade 3:00. If you have questions please call 618-263-3876.
A recent update from Apple may have caused some functions to not work on the App for Android users. If you are not receiving NOTIFICATIONS from the school and you have signed up for NOTIFICATIONS, you may want to delete the App and download it again. Wabash 348, IL
Social Work Needs Assesment for MCES-Please fill out the top 3 questions in the link below. Thank you for helping meet the social needs for your child. https://forms.gle/LUodWsX9Yvu1NVTN9
Apologies for the confusion. As well as delivery locations, the school grab and go lunch may also be picked up at the Mt. Carmel High School and Mt. Carmel Grade School daily. 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
MCES Families: We will be distributing remote learning materials on Thursday, August 20 from 10AM-6PM and on Friday, August 21 from 8AM-3PM. Please pickup your student's Seesaw code and special papers in the front parking lot. There will be tables set up for each grade level.
I understand that these are difficult times, but paper-packets are not an option. A teacher can not present a lesson to your child by using paper-packets, so everyone will need access to internet and a device. Please be thinking of ways this can be accomplished for your child. This is not like the spring. Grades will be taken and lessons will be presented.
Lunches from the school starting August 18th will be at the following locations and times:
Cherry Street Estates 11:00 - 11:30
Lambert Drive 11:40 - 12:15
Bellmont 11:00 - 11:30
Keensburg 11:00 - 11:30
