All work for MCES is due by Wednesday, May 6, at 6:00 p.m. This is any work that was assigned between March 31 - May 1. The cart at MCES will be moved into the school at this time and will no longer be available. I want to thank all the parents/grandparents for working with the teachers during this crazy end of year. Teachers are looking forward to seeing your children on Monday, May 11th. Please schedule your pick up time with your teacher. Thank you, Mrs. Odom
This is a message from Mrs. Odom about Early Childhood (Miss Lori and Miss Stacey) and Pre-School for All (Miss Cindy and Miss Telisa) classes and their end of school year pickup. On Tuesday, May 5, the teachers and assistants will be sitting outside MCES in the main parking lot to return items left behind and portfolios of the student's work. They will be there between 11 - 1. Please bring your child with you so they can wave goodbye to their teacher. This will be a drive-by drop off, only! Please stay in your car.
On Monday, May 11, MCES will open its doors by appointment only from 8 - 3 to pick up the students report cards and items the child left behind. First and second grade items will be at their lockers and Kindergarten will be handed out of the doorway. Teachers are setting up appointments in 10 minute intervals for parents on a first come first serve basis. Only one parent and the child should come to the appointment. There should be no siblings and especially no babies. If your child wishes to say goodbye to their teacher, the teacher will be in the room. Please prepare your child that they will not be able to hug their teacher but they can wave from the hallway to the teacher in the classroom. A parent can come alone if they believe this will be to hard on their child. In order to practice safe distancing each grade level will need to enter from a different door. Kindergarten will enter at the East front door (near pre-school playground); First Grade will enter the main entrance doors; and Second Grade enter the far West front doors (bus lane entrance). Please note if you miss your time, do not show up randomly because that will place too many people in the hallway. There will be a table at each grade level to return library books and a table set up to pay fees near the front of the school. If you cannot meet on this day, please call the main office the week of the 11th to make other arrangements. It is with great sadness that this is the way our school year must end and we want to thank everyone for working with us during this time of remote learning. Thank you, Mrs. Odom
This is a message from Mrs. Odom at MCES. I understand that after the storm we are having trouble with the internet. Please understand that you can catch up on the work when the internet is working again. Do not stress over these circumstances, I'm sure there will be other bumps in the road but we will get through this together.
The preschool screenings that were scheduled for April 20th - April 22nd have been cancelled. Anyone who had already scheduled a screening will be contacted once new screening dates are determined. Thank you!

This is an important message from Mrs. Odom at Mount Carmel Elementary School. Your child's classroom teacher has sent you information on the beginning of remote learning days. Starting Monday, April 6, students at MCES will begin remote learning days through the seesaw apps or packets. Packets will be located in the front of the school starting Friday, April 3 at 10 a.m. and there is a slot in the cart to return the packets. New packets will be added to the cart each Friday by 10:00 a.m. If you have questions contact your child's teacher or call the school and leave a message. This program will continue until we are given the clear to return to school. Please protect yourself with social distancing while picking up the materials. Thank you

This past week, our educators have put together Learning Resource Opportunities for our students/parents. These rich resources are designed to keep your child academically engaged throughout this mandated shut-down. Websites, Activities, Google Classroom information and Social Support are available through the School Website. This information is updated hourly. Any information that is found helpful will be added. Visit https://www.wabash348.com/ and click the REMOTE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY/COVID-19 INFORMATION button and it will take you to the Informational Page with links that include school learning resources. From the APP, it can be accessed through the Wabash Community Unit School District #348 and choose the COVID-19 INFO from the Menu. Please understand that this is a new, ongoing learning process for everyone. The administration is working on all the details as the information becomes available from the Illinois School Board of Education. Thank you for your patience.
A note from the Superintendent:
Today, March 20, 2020, Governor Pritzker ordered a shelter-in-place for Illinois. All Illinois schools, including Wabash CUSD #348, will be closed until April 8th. The state will re-evaluate the situation at that time. During that time, Wabash CUSD #348 will be on spring break. Therefore, the schools are tentatively scheduled to reopen on April 13th. Additionally, we will remain committed to continuing our remote learning opportunities for our students. As the Illinois State Board of Education delivers more guidance, we will be able to better address our situation moving forward. Thank you for all your support in this difficult matter as we continue to work through uncharted waters. Stay safe and Go Aces!
