A MESSAGE FROM THE DISTRICT NURSE. Here is the link to the district's Daily Screening Process: https://5il.co/j03t

MCES wants to remind parents that registration is open.
All MCES students must register online and chose one of two options: option 1: Face to Face Instruction, option 2: Remote Learning.
If you choose option 1: Face to Face, then your child will attend school August 13, 18 and 20 (Last name starts with A - J) or August 14, 19 and 21 (last name starts with K-Z). All face to face students come on August 24th and start coming every day.
If you choose remote learning you will need internet access and a device. MCES will not be providing devices. The teacher your child is assigned to will contact you by August 14 with information and classes will start August 18.
If you are choosing a home-school program please contact the school so we can remove your child from the classroom rosters.
If you have questions please contact MCES from 8 - 2, M - Th. Looking forward to a great year.

Soft Reopening Plan: https://5il.co/ij90

Registration will open soon online for Wabash CUSD #348. We understand that not everyone has access to internet and a computer so we would like to open the schools if you need them.
Schedule: MCES: Tuesday, July 28th: 8:30 - 1:45,
MCHS: Wednesday, July 29th: 8:30 - 1:45 and MCGS: Thursday, July 30th: 8:30 - 1:45.
You must call ahead to schedule your appointment, the schools open Monday, July 27th at 8:00 a.m. MCES: 263-3876, MCHS: 262-5104 and MCGS: 262-5699.
Because of COVID there are specific guidelines that you must follow: 1) Temperature check will be administered
2) Mask must be worn. 3) Prefer no children accompany the parent, but if they do then please make sure that they stay with you.
Please note you may register your children at any of the locations, they do not have to attend that school. If you have questions please call Monday.

It will not be long until school registration begins so MCES wanted to let parents know a couple of things they will need in order for the Kindergarten children to register. First you will need a LUMEN code. If your child was in Pre-School for All (behind district office-code didn't change) or if you filled in the short registration form; your LUMEN codes have been emailed. Please check the email account that you had in your registration information. If you did not receive a code, the MCES office will be open starting on Monday, July 27th, please contact the office and they will be able to help you. Second, the registration is locked until a child's physical is turned in. If you wish to drop off your child's completed physical in the drop box in the front of the school, the nurse said that is o.k. She will go through them as they come in and unlock your accounts when it is time. We will also need a copy of your child's birth certificate and a copy of their social security card. If you have copies or need us to make a copy, please come by the office the week of July 27, ring the bell and someone will come to the door to assist you. Looking forward to working with you and your children - Mrs. Odom

DISTRICT UPDATE: Due to the state guidelines for returning to in-person instruction, wearing a face mask or a face shield will be mandatory to attend school in Phase 4. The district has ordered enough cloth face masks to distribute one per student. However, it is recommended that students have extra face masks for the upcoming school year. Personal face masks worn by a student will need to comply with school dress codes.
The district is currently preparing accommodations that will make in-person instruction possible for this upcoming school year. This school year will certainly be different than any previous school year. As this summer continues, we will continue to communicate new developments and procedures.

A MESSAGE FROM WCUSD #348 SUPERINTENDENT, DR. BLEYER:

MCES office will be closing next Tuesday, June 30, until August 1st. If you have a child that has not been in the Wabash CUSD school system and they are starting Kindergarten, it is very important that they be entered into the system. The process is very easy, just fill in the one page paper in the maroon cart in front of the school. Then return it to the cart in the return section. Then in July when the on-line registration system begins, you will be emailed your LUMEN code so you can register your child. Please remember that all Kindergartners must have a physical before they will be allowed to register. Physical forms are also in the maroon cart. If you have questions, call the school at 618-263-3876 between 9 - 2. Please leave a message and I will return your call. Thank you, Mrs. Odom

MCES would like to express a very special thank you to the Lunch Wagon for all they do for our students and to our teachers that were able to help! Pictured: (picture 1) Ms. Bruce and Mrs. L. Jones, (picture 2) Mrs. Mounts, Mrs. Satava, Mrs. R. Jones, Mrs. Vargo and Mrs. Leffler (not pictured) Mrs. Hagerty

This is a reminder that MCES is open from 9 - 2, M - Th for the month of June if you have a completed physical form to turn in. Also, if you have not filled in the pre-registration form for your upcoming Kindergartner, please do so by June 30th. They are located in the maroon box in front of the school and may be returned there. If your child was in Miss Teresa or Miss Cindy's class at Pre-School for All, they are already in the system and you do not need to fill in the form. If you have questions please call 618-263-3876. Please help me get the word out, please share and tag parents of incoming Kindergarten students. Thank you, Mrs. Odom

The custodians have been working hard this summer to make MCES clean and look exceptional. They have been working on the flower beds in front of the school. They removed all of the old flowers that were not producing and added new perennials and mulch. Thank you very much for the new look.

MCES Kindergarten Pre-Registration forms and physicals are located in the maroon cart in front of MCES. If your child is going to be attending WCUSD #348 in the fall, please stop by MCES and fill in the short registration form and place it in the return slot. Also pick up the Kindergarten physicals and immunization packet. During the summer, you will receive a LUMEN code so you can register your child for Kindergarten. Without the code you will not be able to register your child. Return physical forms to office as soon as you have them completed. Also, 2nd grade dental forms are in the cabinet (pull hard, not locked). If your child attends Pre-K or EC at Wabash CUSD 348 you should have already received the physical forms and you do not need to pre-register. Please fill free to ask questions and I will try to answer quickly. Mrs. Odom

All work for MCES is due by Wednesday, May 6, at 6:00 p.m. This is any work that was assigned between March 31 - May 1. The cart at MCES will be moved into the school at this time and will no longer be available. I want to thank all the parents/grandparents for working with the teachers during this crazy end of year. Teachers are looking forward to seeing your children on Monday, May 11th. Please schedule your pick up time with your teacher. Thank you, Mrs. Odom

This is a message from Mrs. Odom about Early Childhood (Miss Lori and Miss Stacey) and Pre-School for All (Miss Cindy and Miss Telisa) classes and their end of school year pickup. On Tuesday, May 5, the teachers and assistants will be sitting outside MCES in the main parking lot to return items left behind and portfolios of the student's work. They will be there between 11 - 1. Please bring your child with you so they can wave goodbye to their teacher. This will be a drive-by drop off, only! Please stay in your car.

On Monday, May 11, MCES will open its doors by appointment only from 8 - 3 to pick up the students report cards and items the child left behind. First and second grade items will be at their lockers and Kindergarten will be handed out of the doorway. Teachers are setting up appointments in 10 minute intervals for parents on a first come first serve basis. Only one parent and the child should come to the appointment. There should be no siblings and especially no babies. If your child wishes to say goodbye to their teacher, the teacher will be in the room. Please prepare your child that they will not be able to hug their teacher but they can wave from the hallway to the teacher in the classroom. A parent can come alone if they believe this will be to hard on their child. In order to practice safe distancing each grade level will need to enter from a different door. Kindergarten will enter at the East front door (near pre-school playground); First Grade will enter the main entrance doors; and Second Grade enter the far West front doors (bus lane entrance). Please note if you miss your time, do not show up randomly because that will place too many people in the hallway. There will be a table at each grade level to return library books and a table set up to pay fees near the front of the school. If you cannot meet on this day, please call the main office the week of the 11th to make other arrangements. It is with great sadness that this is the way our school year must end and we want to thank everyone for working with us during this time of remote learning. Thank you, Mrs. Odom

This is a message from Mrs. Odom at MCES. I understand that after the storm we are having trouble with the internet. Please understand that you can catch up on the work when the internet is working again. Do not stress over these circumstances, I'm sure there will be other bumps in the road but we will get through this together.

The preschool screenings that were scheduled for April 20th - April 22nd have been cancelled. Anyone who had already scheduled a screening will be contacted once new screening dates are determined. Thank you!

TIME CHANGE. Starting tomorrow, Monday, April 6, 2020, District #348 Grab and Go lunch pickup will change to 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the same school building locations. The offsite mobile locations times will remain the same.

Virtual Spirit week is coming to an end. I want to thank everyone who has participated on one day or another.
Tomorrow, Friday, April 3rd is our last day and it is the day to wear your school colors or your favorite sports team attire.

This is an important message from Mrs. Odom at Mount Carmel Elementary School. Your child's classroom teacher has sent you information on the beginning of remote learning days. Starting Monday, April 6, students at MCES will begin remote learning days through the seesaw apps or packets. Packets will be located in the front of the school starting Friday, April 3 at 10 a.m. and there is a slot in the cart to return the packets. New packets will be added to the cart each Friday by 10:00 a.m. If you have questions contact your child's teacher or call the school and leave a message. This program will continue until we are given the clear to return to school. Please protect yourself with social distancing while picking up the materials. Thank you
